The Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions Promote Huang Kan Lin to Interim Head Coach

The Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions have promoted second-team head coach, Huang Kan Lin (黃甘霖), to take over as the interim manager of the CPBL team. Huang will fill the coaching vacancy after Kuo Tai Yuan resigned in late October. The Lions are said to still be looking for a more experienced coach, but in the meantime, the long-time Lion will be in charge.

Huang, who played for the Lions from 1998 to 2010, will be in charge of getting the Lions back to the Taiwan Series after an underperforming 55-65 season in 2016. The 41-year-old bench boss spent last year as the Lions second-team head coach and will inherit a Lions roster that is a great mix of veterans and young talent.

Huang told the Apple Daily, "I have no problem communicating with players. I will add a little bit of Americanism in another way, and let the players know where they are."

During his professional career, the Chiayi-born outfielder led the CPBL in stolen bases for five consecutive seasons (1999-2003) and still holds the CPBL record for most career stolen bases with 295.
