Game Notes:

  • The Lions beat the Brothers on Wednesday night in a spirited affair that saw multiple ejections. The Lions got to work early, capitalizing on a Brothers error before Chen Yung-Chi annihilated his fourth home run of the year, a three-run shot that left the stadium and gave the Lions a 4-0 lead in the first inning.
  • Lions SP Bruce Billings' night was done after 89 pitches and five innings with his team up 8-2. The righty gave up just four hits and two earned runs to pick up his second win of the season. Over 21 innings this year, Billings has scattered just 19 hits while leading the league in strikeouts with 26.
  • No. 7 Chang Chih-Hao led his team in a losing cause. The center fielder finished 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI and made this ridiculous catch with the bases loaded in the third.
  • The top of the fourth inning was also an entertaining affair. The Lions sent 10 batters to the plate, scoring four times on two hits, two walks and three hit by pitches.
  • Chiang Chih-Hsien took the outright lead in the home run race as he launched his eighth long ball late in the game to make it 9-3.
  • Brothers SP Cheng Kai-Wen was ejected from the game in the third inning. Apparently, the pitcher didn't agree with the strike zone and the home plate umpire was having none of it. Brothers manager Cory Snyder also got the heave for sticking up for his pitcher. Snyder had a really good go at this one and the video is a must watch.
