Game Notes:

  • The Lions continued their 2017 dominance over the Brothers Thursday night, winning their seventh matchup in eight games. The Lions got to the Brothers' starter in the fourth, hitting two solo home runs to tie the game and a Chu Yuan-Chin go-ahead RBI double to take a 3-2 lead. The Brothers would make it interesting late as they put up a five-run eighth that was capped off by a Chen Tzu-Hao three-run homer to make it 9-7. However, that's as close as the Brothers would get as Lions closer Mike DeMark shut the door in the ninth, working around a one-out double to secure the win.
  • Brothers starter Bruce Kern needed 109 pitches to get through six innings in his fourth start of the year. Kern was coming off back-to-back quality starts but gave up four runs tonight thanks in part to two fourth-inning home runs.
  • Coming off his worst start of the year—4.1 innings and eight earned runs on—Lions starter Lin Tzu-Wei lasted just two innings. The disappointing lefty threw 47 pitches in his two frames while allowing two earned runs.
  • Lions DH Kao Kuo-Ching has hit safely in each of his six games to begin the season. The veteran slugger hitting a robust .423.
  • The No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 CPBL draft, Su Chih-Chieh, made just his second start of the year after rehabbing a hand injury for the early part of the season. The phenom went 1-for-5 with a triple and two runs scored. He has played both games at first base.
  • The Lions are now 7-1 versus the Brothers this year after tonight's win.

Attendance: 3,923
Game time:

  1. Looks like Lions are the nemesis of the Brothers this season given those stats. Apparently, the ejection of Cheng Kai-wen last night cost the "Yellow Troopers" dearly with their frail bullpen being stretched beyond limit again, it could another tough on-the-road series when they travel to Taoyuan to face the Monkeys. Also, the Brothers need to buck up and not to leave everything till the eleventh hour of every game.

  2. They definitely should have tagged Lin Tzu-Wei for more than two runs. Scary going into Taoyuan for a three-game set. Lamigo undefeated at home and Brothers off B2B losses.
