Game Notes:
  • Bruce Billings put up zeros across six frames versus the Guardians tonight as the right-hander gave up just four hits and struck out eight in the scoreless effort which helped the Lions split the two-game series. Billings ran into trouble in the sixth as the Guardians loaded the bases with one out, but the veteran would strike out the next two batters to help preserve the quality performance and, more importantly, the Lions' 3-0 lead. Billings has now strung together back-to-back quality starts for the first time this season and has lowered his ERA from 6.19 to 4.91 over those two games.
  • The Lions were led offensively by Kao Kuo-Ching as the former MVP knocked in the first run of the game with a sac-fly in the opening frame and added an RBI double in the fourth. Kao finished 2-for-3 and is hitting .320.
  • Lions closer Mike DeMark worked around a one-out error and a single to nail down the win. DeMark sports a 2.20 ERA over his 16.1 innings of relief.
  • Fubon's SP Chris Seddon spotted the Lions an early 2-0 lead in the first and would give up three runs in total over his five innings of service. The lefty allowed seven hits and four walks in the loss.
  • The Guardians currently have four import pitchers as newly acquired Scott McGregor is in the fold now but cannot join the first team unless somebody is released.
  • Scary moment for the Lions in the fifth inning as Chen Yung-Chi took a groundball to the face after the ball ricocheted off third base. He would be lifted from the game but it seemed to be precautionary.
  • The Lions lead the season series 7-5.
