Game Notes:

  • What a game it was with multiple late lead changes: With the score tied at 6-6 in the top of the eighth inning, Lamigo pinch hitter Yang Tai-Chun singled home the runner at second base to give the away team a late-inning go-ahead run. However, in the bottom of the eighth inning, Fubon's nine-hitter Lee Tsung-Hsien belted a solo shot on the second pitch from Lamigo setup man Lin Po-Yu to tie the game. Later in the same inning, with two outs and bases loaded, Guardians' Kao Hsiao-Yi hit a go-ahead two-run single to left.
  • In the top of the ninth inning, Lamigo scored 3 runs on 3 hits and a sac fly. Then, after a one-hour rain delay, the home team could not stage a comeback and took the hard loss.
  • With the save tonight, Lamigo closer Chen Yu-Hsun has notched 21 saves in the first half, tying the CPBL record of the most saves in a half-season. The previous record was set by Ryan Cullen of the Brother Elephants in the 2010 season.
  • Lamigo rookie 3B Liang Chia-Jung hit the first homer in his young career in the top of the third inning.
  • Lamigo young slugger Wang Po-Jung went 2-for-3 tonight, belting two home runs and collecting three RBIs and two runs. Wang saw his batting average rise to .403.
  • Lamigo starter Zeke Spruill threw a season-high 126 pitches, allowing six earned runs on 10 hits in six-plus innings. He also notched seven strikeouts and two walks.
  • Fubon's new import starter Scott McGregor made his CPBL debut, allowing five earned runs on 10 hits in four innings. Not a good start for the 30-year-old former 15th-round draft pick of the St. Louis Cardinals.
  • Fubon Guardians pitchers have struggled on the mound, having allowed 88 home runs in the first half-season, breaking the CPBL record previously set by the EDA Rhinos, who allowed 86 home runs in the first half of last season.
  • At 41-16-1, the Monkeys have tied the CPBL record for most wins in a half season. They'll have two chances to break the record with games against the Guardians and Brothers on Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • Lamigo has dominated the season series 14-4-1
