Game Notes:

  • After pitching two innings and serving up two earned runs, Lions SP Josh Roenicke was replaced due to a minor shoulder injury. After this, the Lions began burning through their bullpen. The Monkeys offense was obviously more than the Lions bullpen could handle. RP Liao Wen-Yang pitched 0.2 innings, giving up seven earned runs as the Monkeys offense would score in all but two innings.

  • Monkeys SP Zeke Spruill pitched four innings, serving up eight runs (five earned) and 10 hits. Although Spruill’s performance wasn’t ideal, the Monkeys offense and bullpen saved the game. RP Hung Sheng-Chin pitched two innings without any runs or walks, earning him the win tonight.

  • There were a total of 23 hits and 16 runs for the Monkeys tonight. Five starters put on a good performance with three or more hits each. Among them, LF Lan Yin-Lun went 5-for-7 tonight and broke his previous record for most hits in a game. Lions SS Chen Chieh-Hsien also went 4-for-4 and was walked intentionally in the eighth inning, removing his chance to hit for the cycle.

  • Both the Lions and the Monkeys had three triples each (Lin Cheng-Fei, Lan Yin-Lun, Lin Hung-Yu for the Monkeys; Lin You-Le, Chen Chieh-Hsien, and Tang Chao-Ting for the Lions) totaling six triples in a game, breaking the CPBL record for most triples in a game set back in 2008.
