Game Notes:

  • The Fubon Guardians had only one win with seven losses in Tainan Baseball Stadium during the regular season and the first game of the postseason challenge series was no different. Although Guardians SP Bryan Woodall made a quality start the Guardians‘ bullpen was still not stable enough.
  • Uni-Lions No.5 Kuo Fu-Lin had another impressive walk-off  home run! Last goodbye homer completed the first perfect game in CPBL history and this time he prevented the Guardians from their first win in the postseason. Kuo said he is just trying to help the team win with all the members of the Lions deserving credit in this team win!
  • Each team's SP made a quality start but the Guardians only had two hits in the first and second innings, showing that the Guardians offense could not breakthrough against the Lions pitching. With another four possible games in this series, the Guardians coaches must figure this issue out.
  • The Lions bullpen silenced the Guardians offense completely in the second half of this game. It shows that the Lions bullpen has an impressive pitching staff with a fantastic ERA in the regular season. If the Lions bullpen can keep up their wonderful pitching, it could become a huge threat to the Guardians.
